And yes my wheezy 1.9 pulled it (buts its only a couple of miles) Disappointed I didnt get most unique, how often do you see this type of combination, oh well theres always next year!!

Guess you can change your signature line now!

Nice job. Family of six? No problem.

(Looks kinda heavy, though. What's your drivetrain in the tow van?)

Actually you can see in some of the pictures the bus didnt mind it at all (nowhere near as much as my 4runner which was dragged down!) Just for running around town to the shop and this show the van only has a balanced blueprinted 1.9 but more power is in the future.

Nice. Seems you could have kept the engine in there, then it would be easier to pull Smile

A few years ago a Toyota or Lexus SUV passed me on the Bay Bridge, towing a trailer similar to this. The sticker in the back of the pop top read "Westfail".

Only took the engine out a couple of weeks ago. So now it weighs less but the balance point has moved as the engine meant there was weight behind the wheel. The idea is to put a genny in the hole where the engine was and run it off propane. But time and money first. Oh yeah and a bigger engine in the pull bus not sure if I am going TDi or 2.5 Subaru. I know that is like 2 opposing religions but hey what the heck might as well kick the hornets nest Wink

What a neat concept! And great execution! Fantastic re-use idea for a burnt out or damaged van. Having the engine and transmission gone opens up a ton of space underneath for equipment. The design possibilities are endless... Mobile command center? Shower and full kitchen? Separate sleeping quarters for the kids? Office?

I can't believe you didn't win most unique either! Again, great job!

Engine bay would be awesome for a custom cooler for food while camping and storage for all cooking utensils slightly expensive to build perhaps but cool none the less

That is very cool. Throw a grill in the engine bay a la the LSU Pacer:

If you disassemble the cv shaft, you only need the last part, the stub axle. Just assemble the stub axle in the control arm like normal and torque it to spec.
