I haven't been able to catch it on TV yet and the YouTube version just doesn't have enough resolution. What year model of VW convertible does that pig drive. I thought the first year of the Rabbit (MK1 Golf) convertible was 1980. I think I saw a 197? on his digital insurance card.
Other Geico Pig commercials seem to indicate a later 80s model (full bumper covers?)Time 0:07

I'm more impressed that Giselle from "Jeepers Creepers" is still around. _________________

These cars were made from 1980 through 1992.
Early versions sold in the states had "steel" bumpers, and later cars had plastic covered bumpers.
These cars where always very nicely trimmed, not cheap at all.
They were also very popular "Girls Car" back in the 80's.
The car in the commercials is not stock at all, the color, interior, is custom, so it could be an early car with later bumpers.
The info on the "phone" is all BS. _________________ Good Luck

They were built from January 1979 to April 1993. The 1979 model year cars were half-year-productions, and were sold only in Europe.
Maxwell's car is a 1990-1993 Cabriolet (indicated by the lack of chrome trim, fixed vent windows, and airbag steering wheel).
The car has indeed been modified: shaved side-marker lights, shaved rear badges, shaved side molding, reupholstered interior, and paint respray (originally Alpine White). However, the paint color is, or is very similar to, the actual (and very rare) 1989-only Cabriolet color of Guinea Blue.
And, yes, the phone/ID info is all made up. In fact, I'm surprised they left the VW emblem on the grille in-tact, and in plain sight for all to see in the close-up shots; in most instances, it's either removed or blacked out for trademark reasons. _________________ ~Kamz
