Progress on the HBB5 cancer fundraiser car is at a standstill, nothing done now for 4 weeks or more. all interest seems to be gone except for this writer and maybe one more. the leaders of all past projects are not leading in this project so Im just left here in the dark wondering whats going on??????????????? I have not been selling any raffle tickets because of the total lack of communication. this sucks..

Reading this thread is just painful. I never got to know Brad, I am a newbie to the VW scene, but I know all too well about cancer and how much it hurts for everyone in the family...From reading his posts, and his battles with cancer, I can only say what a strong, passionate young man you raised...
If there is anything I can do Bradsdad to help with his fund raising or anything, let me know...I have a few friends that have reputable cancer foundations. Growing up in Huntington Beach, we have lost many, young and old to Cancer.
My whole heart goes out to all his family and friends... |

Thanks for your input......
theres always someone new in this massive VW group, so welcome aboard. ( its world wide you know ) when I first saw the pic of your car I thought it was Brad"s ,, same color and design except for your being a swing axle . Any money we have raised from these various fundraiser raffles has been given to the City Of Hope as far as I know. It is the hospital where Brad received so much of his cancer treatment and its the one we mostly donate to. Anyhow check out the Samba website it has a lot of things going for it, keep an eye out for anything with the HBB5 cancer fundraiser mark on it . someone might resurrect the raffle pretty soon! The next big get together is Busses By The Bridge at Lake Havasu in January. A lot of Brad's friends attend this meet. maybe well see you there.

Christmas Day........4 years ago, not too great a day for me and others as well. It was the day we all lost Brad to cancer. He passed away at 7:15PM on the 25th. Brad personally loved Christmas and when he was in his last few days of life he would ask me daily many times if it was Christmas yet? no was the answer, he would nod his head, go back to sleep or rest. I knew Brad was waiting for Christmas day to leave us, I knew it. He left us on this day of joy which has turned out to be my day of sorrow for I miss him so much still, I think of him so many times daily about the days of his youth and as a young man, so, so many memories are mine alone I should be happy on this day. I loved my son, I was so proud of him. and I miss him so. There are still things that happen around here that make my believe he is looking over my shoulder.
Merry Christmas to everyone

I was thinking about him this morning.
So much accomplished in his short life and so much that could of been done. _________________ Glenn

Still remember that night when we lost our friend. He'll always be a part of us, in the VW community and especially here on TS. _________________ -=Rob

I still remember the feeling I had when I got the news, sad the world lost such an amazing person but relieved he was in a better place. Four years later and the constant reminders make it seem like yesterday! _________________ To his their own PBJ

You can do something to help fight cancer and bring awareness so people get checked early.
I'm participating in Cycle for Survival, which is a fund raiser for Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in NYC on March 1st. 100% of the donations go to cancer research for rare cancers like the one that took Brad.
I hope no one minds me posting a link to my topic, but this topic gets more cancer exposure.

Thanks Owen. Brad was only one year older than my daughter and I often think about how painful his loss must be fore you. But know he touched many lives and lived life more than many much older people.
Make the check out to:
Cycle for Survival
Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Mail it to:
Amanda Keene
Cycle for Survival
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
633 Third Avenue, 4th Floor
New York, NY 10017
Put a note with the check indicating it should be credited to:
Team Gray Matter, Glenn Ring
Thanks, i'm sure it will help. _________________ Glenn

Owen,
I've had a number of very generous donations from Samba members i've never met.
I initially set my goal to $1500 and have raised over $3000. The team i'm on has raised over $15,000. Cycle for Survival has raised over $11,000,000 this year and over $42,000,000 since 2007. _________________ Glenn

I have a dedicated topic here: Fight Cancer... Join the Battle.

Hi folks .........I havnt posted anything for awhile but now is a good time, Im sittin here putting some sort of a map together so as three of my granddaughters can find there uncle Brad's resting place in Central Park and pay him a visit. They'll me going in a few weeks for a vacation and they expressed a wish to visit Brad. I think that will be cool. I have several maps and pictures a few of you have left here, so I don't think it will be hard for them to find his spot and say Hi Uncle Brad. As for me things don't change much, Im just getting older and dummer...........ok so that's the way it goes. Don't see the samba guys as much because they just quit working on the raffle car altogether....go figure!. I have been driving Brad's oval to some of the shows, Blackstar being the last and it was a blast 4+days , I won a boogie board in the raffle and I just cant wait to try it out................just kidding.
