On my 1967 Bug, I replaced the master cylinder, fluid reservoir, all hoses between reservoir and master cylinder about 6 months ago and all was well. A couple of days ago, I noticed a puddle of brake fluid on garage floor. I jacked the car up and took off driver's front tire and noticed brake fluid under the master cylinder area. After careful inspection, all was dry around the hose connections, hard brake line connections and the master cylinder itself was dry. I filled the reservoir back up and there was not leaks for 48 hours. Went to the garage this morning and found a puddle of brake fluid again. Was wondering if anyone has experienced the same. |

pull back the dust boot at the pedal and see if it is wet. Where is the puddle ? _________________ Rick

It is leaking right under the master cylinder at pan which then leaks in the hole of the pan and under the car. Looked inside near the pedal cluster and saw no brake fluid making me think it is not around the dust boot. |

sounds like the MC is leaking, you need to pull back the dust boot from the MC. I'll bet it is wet behind it. _________________ Rick

Yeah, It's defiantly leaking at the rear where the pushrod goes in. I lost all of one side of reservoir with a slight leak on the floor. most of it stayed in the tunnel and fire wall. |
