Tomtom at the Volksworld show :

Extract from the blog http://bedpansandbobbysocks.wordpress.com/:

"The Volkswagen bus that tootled back into our lives a year ago will be setting off on another journey at the end of next month when it travels from its new home close to the French/Swiss border all the way to the UK to make an appearance at the Volksworld Show 2014 (March 29 and 30). And naturally, we will be going along too!
...

The show (which takes place at Sandown Park in Surrey) sounds as if it has something for everyone – if three octogenarian nurses and possible future stars of the small screen are not a big enough draw! So if you feel like getting stuffed in a Bug, meeting a BMX legend or just fancy a day out with a difference, why not come along too?"

You can notice the same position of the people in the 2 latest pictures (by chance ?). Nurses are at the right place !

Thanks you all for this nice day in UK and interesting discussions

Not the point anything out but you guys are standing on the wrong side of the bus Wink

Hello,
back to a US trip, I met Lin Ottinger, a 80 years old tall man, who owned the Tomtom barndoor (picture of the bus in grey scale) to make tourist trips in Canyon-Lands.

Image may have been reduced in size. Click image to view fullscreen.

Here is another information he gave me about the story of the bus in the past:

"arround 1965, Lin‘s daughter drove the bus too quick in a curve with gravels, and had a material accident (passenger side and roof damages) The original engine was damaged too.

The bus was stored in a garage. A fire arround the storage burnt the paint on the passenger long panel."

We can say that the side panel was not sunburnt but burnt only...
The roof has been damaged by an accident and not a roll off on a side on a moutain.

At moab, Tom Arnold Junior was not at the shop the day we came.
Sadly we did not have enough time to reach Grand Junction and meet John Jones.

Perhaps next time...
It would be a great idea to come back with the bus....but much more money...

Here is the updated blog from Barbara Fox. She explains far better than me.

Hello,

I need your help Wink
I must find pictures of the tomtom barndoor when it was in USA (with its patina). A little precision ... they have to be in a good resolution, it's for an article.

Could you please send me pictures you could have collected in meeting, or when you perhaps visited John at the KCW. Every pictures in good resolution will help.

Thank you very much for your contribution.

Michael
