Hi all,

I've just received the certificate for my NOV '54 Kombi and it lists M-Code 043, which it describes as unidentifiable.

TheSamba shows 043 as:

Quote:
043 Preparation for Swiss license requirements

Do any of you know what that entails, please?

Thank you.

Thanks Kasten.

My bus definitely doesn't have, and doesn't appear to have ever had, a peak like that.

My certificate has raised far more questions than answers. Rolling Eyes

I think other people might know the specific details better than me but I believe 043 just means it matches a certain set of requirements for lighting and color of lighting.

Red taillights and so on.

I did a quick search of the site but didn't find a definitive answer.
There is this thread:
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=50231

If you search on swiss license requirements there are a lot of threads you could search through for past information.

My bus only has the standard red taillights, centre brakelight and semaphores, PEPPE.

There are no signs whatsoever that it was ever modified either. Neutral

Not sure if it has ever been definitively proven with any literature, but I am pretty sure Swiss barndoors had orange center brake light lenses. The license plate light cover referenced earlier was made and installed by AMAG, the Swiss importer of VWs and other makes. The license light cover would not be an M-code thing from the VW factory. I wonder what changes besides the orange brake lens was done at the factory? Must have been more to warrant its own M-code for "Preparation for Swiss license requirements".

Don't get too caught up in everything on your birth certificate. They are very often incorrect.

Thanks, chaps.

My bus did not come with its brakelight lense, so I cannot prove or refute that claim based on mine.

My certificate says that my bus was shipped to London, England, initially, but it landed up half a planet away, so I'm in agreement with you that it's more than likely another error in the records.

Kind regards.
