With it being an August of 58 build, and also it being fjord blue, it would make it a 59. With that said, you have a very nice car. I am most impressed with the interior. I can tell you used original door panels, but can you give me some more info on the interior?

Yes, indeed, my car is a model year 1959. I would be very glad to provide you with more details about the interior? What exactly do you want to know? For instance, I can tell you that I bought the whole interior in Sweden. The story goes like this: I was restoring my vehicle, I wanted my beetle to be as it was the very day it came out of the Wolfsburg factory. The problem was I was not able to find a good interior with door panels and seats in mint condition. One day I found out about a guy named Stefan from Sweden, Dalarna region, Borlange who was advertising a 1959 VW beetle. The car was quite rusty, but the former owner, a very respectable Swedish old-fashioned lady kept her door panels and seats under a leather cover. I was so impressed by the quality of that interior. I was almost begging the Swedish guy to sell them to me, so finally I offered him 800 euro just for the interior. He agreed but he asked me to go to Sweden to pick them up personally!!! Briefly, I drove 6000 km from Bucharest, Romania till Borlange, Sweden and back ( one week in total) just to get my VW correct style 1959 interior. When Stfean saw me in Borlange he said: It is amazing what people can do for these little cars!!!!!!

Wow, you are a very luck guy to find an original interior that is in that kind of shape. I can see why you drove and paid what you did. Very nice!

Yes, thanks man, believe me it was worthy. I am the proud owner of a mint interior. The real problem with 58-59 upholstery and door panels is that you do not find a repro product to look exactly like the original, to have been manufactured using the same materials. I have been searching for years and I can even conclude that finding that interior was the toughest part of the restoration process. Now I can hardly stay on my seat, I am afraid not to deteriorate it!

A few weeks ago I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a '59 Sunroof car. It was built in September of '58. Black with red interior. I will post some photos when I get a chance.

I definitely look forward to checking out this thread and what is wrong on this car.

I am happy to of just picked up an old early 58. It seems like it has most, if not all of the original 58' specific parts on it. I even believe it has the original engine in it, except distributor. It has the original Signal front windshield too. Pretty excited to get this one and after ready through the majority of the thread, I love 58-59's and their uniqueness. My 58' was built in late 57'. Here are some pictures. It was original painted a blue. Do you guy know what color it is refereed to? This one is going to remain stock and repainted the original color.

I know the interior is far from correct. Original paint inside though.

Looks like Capri blue. Btw, I think its great that you are gunna remain stock and repaint it the correct color. If you are gunno go that far, I would recommend getting a birth certificate for the car.

Lol, hey man cut me some slack. I'm looking at this shit on my phone.lol
Honestly, glacier was what I though it was originally, but I couldn't see any metallics in the paint, that's why I leaned towards capri.

Can someone tell me what the correct length should be for the stock chrome exhaust tips for a 1959 Beetle with a 36-HP motor?

I have seen them in all different lengths is why I ask and want to get the correct ones for my 36-HP motor in a 1959 Beetle.

You can either try and mix it off formulas you find online or take it to a paint shop that has PPG or some other paint and they can laser match it using some type of crab sorcery. It's how I got the paint for my 58 done.
