Late Bay engine in a 914?

Is it a strait swap? Is the engine tin on a late bay vs a 914 different or does it have the same engine surround?

Yes...its different tin. Also...a late bay engine even if its a 2.0L...will have less HP than the original 1.7L and far less than a 914 2.0L.

The bus engines had a different cam and lower compression to make torque in a different power band with different gearing. Without work...expect it to be a hot running slug. Ray

true but there are ways to fix that,thank god for the aftermarket

and different flywheels....A cam/CR change and head change to 914 2.0L heads will make the difference. Almost all of the tin is different.
