This is what that last car, a 2001 Mallett Hammer Z06 Corvette, looked like when it was uncovered two days ago. The sinkhole opened up 7 weeks ago.

As it was being hoisted from its upside down position the last attached body panel fell off. They just don't make them like they used to. Evil or Very Mad

From the news report: They will be shipped to a General Motors plant in Michigan to be repaired. Shocked

I'm sure its "repair" will be included in GM's after-recall-comeback campaign when our President does his bailout thing.

GM has the money to "restore" these pretty much worthless and probably will never be missed cars but it can't spend a extra $.50 on each new car produced to stop them from killing people Rolling Eyes

I've seen cars come out of a crusher looking better than that.

It seems appropriate that this particular Corvette was a "Mallett Hammer" conversion. It looks like it got hit by some really big mallets and hammers. Laughing
It reminds me of one way that high school student bodies raise money by letting people hit a car with a sledge hammer for $1 a swing.

Looks like they should have left it there for future archeologist to unearth and then ponder over.

Probably not, since President George W. Bush is no longer in office.
