Ignition Switch Sticks

I just fired my '56 for the first time tonight. The starter sticks on when I release the key, sometimes longer than others. Is there anything I can do to lube the internal part of the switch or will it release properly with time?

The problem could be the old sticky cylinder lubrication. Clean and grease all the moving parts.

This is a common problem with oval window switches since they are all 55+ years old now.
Take the switch out of the car and remove the lock cylinder. It is held in place by this clip:

You can then clean out the grease.
