Anybody have any ideas on mounting side pods since rubber between body and pods are not available? Also any pictures on how you mounted the pods!
Thanks.

You could just glass them in and eliminate the seam??

If the rubber is NLA, what is it supposed to look like (cross section)? There are many versions of pinch weld rubber available that may work as a substitute. I use different styles as trim, seal, take up space and more.

Here are some I have used/will be using.

This has a seal "bubble" on the side and makes a great hood seal.

This has the seal "bubble" on the bottom and will be used to seal my hatch to the body without harming the paint.

It is carpet reducer but the vinyl stuff will not work. You will need to find a source for commercial stuff made from rubber.

I have been toying with the idea of riveting the pods on the body and gluing rubber from marine rub rail to hide the rivets and the seam.

Normally yes but not for this. It will roll up at the forward arch. Go ahead... Ask me how I know. Wink

I got mine from Jon at Java for about $80.00 but when we built two other Imps he Jacked the price. The second and third sets where $250.00 each.

I'm sure that something like universal screen rubber would work if you look a craft knife to it...

Ballys gym used it for their in door tracks and I have seen it at a new Verizon store just recently. The stuff is out there. I will post a photo of a cross section in the AM.

I finally got the side pods placed on the body after adjusting for fit. Just realized from age the body has moved more than I expected. The inter flange on the pod at one point will be 1/4" in from the body and within 8 inches along the body the flange will be tight against the body. I tried to put a edge along the inside of the body for the flange to fit between the edge and the body. To much warp I started to hear slight cracking and stopped. Maybe I'll need to fiberglass pods. Any ideas or anyone know of a good thread on fiberglassing pods. Thanks to every one so far with great ideas and help. Did want to try the screen rubber and the other rubber suggested.

Did you end up mounting the side pods using the rubber samples?

The sample type will not. I'm actually thinking of fiber glassing to the body. No final decision yet.
