SO, I have one of these paluxette 6v coffee makers for my car and i need to install the 6v original dealer accessory cigarette lighter in my car so i can use the lighter and also have a cigarette lighter.

So heres the kurfuffle: I have mounted a clock, sapphire II radio, record player, air conditioner, gas heater and dehne gas gauge (not pictured) all without cutting any holes in the face of the dash. I have only cut holes where the speaker grill is for the dehne gauge, but put away original grill, and used another that I painted to match. So its reversible.

SO, im trying to figure out where I should mount the cigarette lighter. keep it mind that the coffee maker sticks out from the dash about 6-7 inches, and probably should be away from spilling on record player, or in the way of ashtray, shifter , and radio knobs. I really dont want to cut holes in this virgin dash, but if I do since its an original accessory, it should be in a proper OG spot, or at least look like it would be OG. It also needs to be functional and not awkward. what do you guys think based on this picture?

I am not at all envious of you having to even think of cutting your beautiful dash. I have a 59 ragtop, that I'm going thru that sat for an extremely long time (it still has a 62 license plate on it). It had a cigarette lighter installed where your vase is located (it also has a huge tube am radio that was installed under the dash). Personally, where you have such a beautiful dash, I'd hid it in the glovebox.

I'd make a metal bracket and use existing bolt(s) like the steering column mount bolt near "A", so I wouldn't need to drill or cut.

I did something similar under the steering column on my truck a few years back so I wouldn't have to drill or cut anything there (I added a toggle switch there).

I'd go for the modified spare ashtray solution. Totally reversible, convenient.

Why not make a bracket that that mounts to one or both of your shifter mount bolts? Then you can run the wires under the mat and directly to the battery.

Expect a vehicle and body search should you be pulled over, since that thing will look like a bong to a cop!

Maybe you should mount it in your other car. The '59 is pretty full of distractions already.

I'm not judging, but if you drive your car long enough distances that you need to refill l your coffee cup, perhaps you should consider just stopping at the nearest QT and getting another cup. On the other hand, if you need coffee at a car show, I'd just put the outlet in the trunk.

It comes with a funnel and hose, so he's covered for those long drives.

for me, don't cut the dash, instead mount the lighter on a right angle bent piece of metal hung under the dash with a small screw(s) I did that in my 61 bug. I did not want to hole up the dash face.

PS do you have some photos to share of your AC install, photos of engine bay and underside heat exchangers and such. that is an interesting ac unit.

I don't own a 59- this car in question is a 58, coffee maker and cigarette lighter are going in this car. It's not full of distractions- they are all functional , rare and period correct original parts that make driving the car very enjoyable. I do not have brand new aftermarket ridiculousness.
I don't know what a qt is- we don't have those stores in California. Maybe an am/pm or 711. I think ill drink my espresso in my car instead of their Mississippi mud coffee

I'm highly leaning for this option.
The a/c is from a 1960 and is a dealer installed a/c made by Delanair exclusively for volkswagen. I have the complete original system and it's mounted to a 36hp motor.
