Has anyone seen these guys on their current tour ? We saw them last night doing their internet request evening. Knowing what I know about these two characters, I would bet that that they just played their top ten plus a few.
Anyway Fagan was fantastic, you could get a little crackle in his voice ,but it was unmistakable as Donald Fagan . His side kick Walter Becker was even somewhat personable. WE saw them at the Civic center in San Jose, They last played there in 1976.
Seats were priced well at $ 50.00 each and the crowd was pre geriatric . There were a few people smoking pot and the last three songs turned in to a low key Mosh pit.
The youngest person I saw was probably thirty and the oldest about seventy.
All in all I have now fulfilled a long time desire to see them. Now I can cross Steeley Dan and sky diving off of my list.

I'm 17 and saw them last summer. Great show, great music and on the way there I accidentally stumbled upon stall 20 and took a picture of a bus in their parking lot. How cool is that! |

I really like listening to their music but they are boring as hell live. I wouldn't waste the money. |

Maybe compared to Metallica or the rolling stones. I kinda of appreciated the starkness of the stage and the energy of the musicians ,but o each his or her own.

I'd pay to see Steely Dan, but I'd rather see Fagan and the Nightfly crew. _________________ '65 Deluxe bus long term project |

Donald Fagan really is the master behind behind the music . Seeing him for the first time I realize what a talented performer he really is.
I have listened to some of his other non (S D) and the spark is not there.
My wife went and although she wasn't a fan like I am ,she now wants to see him again , because the audience is mellow and venues are smaller and play in arenas with better acoustics. |

i havent seen them in over 5ys but last time i thought beckers guitar playing is masterful and fagen although the mastermind sometimes his voice just stinks...but its the jam, not the voice i go for...theres a ton of really good digital recordings of recent SD tours on line _________________ 88 Westy GL Vanaru 07 2.5 EJ25/AA Trans/oiling plates, 1.14 3rd-.77-4th..solar powered cabin |

Love Steely, but I doubt I would watch them live. Maybe 30 years ago. _________________ MAKE FORUMS GREAT AGAIN

Caught one of Skunk Baxter's gigs... but it was a talk on National Missile Defense, not a concert...
He isn't with the band since he left in the mid-70s, is he? |

OK Steely Dan fans , Fagan and Becker are coming to town again . I missed them last time . I did get to see Fagan with the "Dukes Of September"
though . Hard to beat Fagan ,Skaggs and Mc Donald in one show .
I've loved the Dan as a Teen and I am 54 now, they are doing 3 shows in my area in July. Honestly they are better from a CD or on line ,but there is nothing like the energy of a live show and watching Fagan belt out those tunes .
Love em or hate their music is masterfully done with inventive lyrics . See ya there . I'll be the white grey haired guy in button down shirt not smoking pot or drinking . _________________ 1987 Syncro Westfalia Triple knob (bastard)

If you like Steeley Dan, there's a tribute band called Aja Vu that plays regularly around the SF Bay Area, and these guys have SD nailed! Check them out for a fix between tours. They've recently included some Chicago tunes in their shows, but it's the SD stuff that I go to see. Guitar, horns & vocals are all right on. Almost as good as the real thing...
