Well...I've done my 1965 deluxe wrong then...
Rear hatch panel is covered with gray vinyl and no beading? (Or is it a painted gray pebbly texture?)
Thanks. |
rear hatch 64-67 microbuses vinyl covered, no beading, attached with 20 snaps with chrome heads.
rear hatch 55-63 microbuses is vinyl covered, has beading on top, attached with screws with standard screw location. |
A few pics because I like pics
A 57, dark beading
My 63, light beading

I noticed the "printed" faux dots on the vinyl I took off but my WW sourced TMI headliner vinyl was all perforated and they told me the printed dot style was not available...shoulda done my homework before hand i guess but I won't lose any sleep over it now.
My side panels in the luggage area need to get the vinyl peeled off and painted gray asap.
Thanks y'all! _________________ 1979 Type-2 Westfalia “Sandy”

Uh, sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but the vinyl above the lower panels was not perforated, it was dot printed.
All the headliner vinyl covering solid parts of the bus, such as around window frames, oner the front windshield, door frames, c pillars, and upper luggage area was dot printed. The only sections which were perforated were some of the rear roof sections overhead.
This is for all 64 to 67 buses with headliners.
Choup, on this website is the only source for dot printed vinyl that I am aware of. |
just to add to the mix,
I have some original upper corner panels that were painted, and some that were headliner wrapped.
For 55-63 standard, 64-67 standard, and 64-67 deluxe it could be either way.
I do not know why some were painted and some headliner covered.
Both the original headliner color and the paint color were coordinated with the buses' interior color. I haven't figured out the different 'whites' but the very pale green for the upper corner panels of a turkis 64 standard microbus is distinct. |

I have searched and cannot find the answer. Would a 67 deluxe have headliner material glued to the rear hatch around the window frame or is it just painted? _________________ '67 13 Window
