What tool do I use to pull the bolts out of my CV joints? I have tried my 40T torx bit and it slipps, the next size up in my set is 45T and it does not fit. This makes me think that I do not have the correct size, or that I am using the wrong tool completely. If I am using the correct tool (40T), are there any tricks to getting them out? |

2304 8mm Serrated. I got lucky and found it in a box of old vw parts I bought.
Check your local vw parts place. _________________ What I lack in brains, I make up for with good intentions. |

I got the 12 pt tool from the local parts store and the old cv joints came right out! thanks for the help. Now I have to clean them up and put in new boots.
Almost ready to put this thing back on the road! I am so excited! |

same boat here..
Did the mistake to use TORX 40 instead of NZX 12 points (for M8 bolts, right?)
So one bolt was stripped...do you guys think is going to come out when using the NZX? Any other recommended method to take the bolt out?

If it's stripped use vice grips |

Remove all the ones you can and then use vice grips on the remaining one. Try rocking the flange to help loosen. |
