Hey all,
Working on my buggy now that Spring is (finally) here.
I picked up an old SVDA at a swap meet and installed it.
I still have a wicked flat spot.
I warm up the engine for 10 or so minutes and when I floor it - it almost stalls the motor....
I've set the timing as per the recommendations...
Could it be the vac canister ? I did have to put quite a bit of suction to the can to get any movement out of the arm when I tested it...
engine specs: 1600 DP, 1.25 rockers, center mt 34 pict 3 with no available preheaters, tri mill stinger header...

Had my mechanic put on a new SVAD and the vac was bad right out of the box, he had to go get one off a old one and tested it to see if it would hold a vacuum which it did . then set the timing but it still wasn't just right so he took out the idle jet and increased it to .65 and it runs great. I took off the 009 because of the flat spot it was getting annoying. But I'm no expert but this is what worked for me. BTY the distr I bought was probably a cheap Chinese one but it works good for now. |

Which SVDA? There are many and not all will work with a 34PICT-3. _________________ Glenn

It the lack or preheaters to manifold/carb causing you the problem. If you are using a stock three piece center section you need to fab up some preheaters on your header....
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3...p;start=60
Check out the photos on that link-you want one preheater connection near the #4 exhaust outlet then the other side near the collector so air circulates through there properly.
You can get out a welder and fab it up yourself or I believe aircooled.net offers that service to newly purchased headers as well. |

It is not your SVDA it is your lack of preheaters on your three piece manifold! Modify your existing header, or buy one that has preheaters or get dual carbs. |

Unfortunately I've not seen a tri-mill buggy stinger style exhaust with preheaters.....

And therein lies the problem....
Everyone always says "You need preheat....you need preheat"....
Yet how do you provide preheat on a million buggies with center mount carbs and this exhaust ?

By bending some tubing and welding it onto the exhaust, that's how.

Exactly-look at the links I referred to it shows you how to add the preheaters correctly to your header.
Either that or change to dual carbs if you will not change that header.
Otherwise continue to have a bogging issue everytime. |
