Now that I pulled off the brake handle to paint, I need a cover ( boot ). My interior rubber mats are grey. Anyone make a "grey" emergency brake handle boot for a 62' Beetle? Confused Confused

Looks grey and was about ready to order it but after talking to the sales staff, they definitely said that it was black. I think Empi has one that is grey but for 65' and later? Would it fit?

I have a later one on my '59 Beetle for temporary use, so yes it fits, but it has 2 slits cut in the boot for the heater and defroster control levers.

Is your Empi boot grey and does it match the gray rubber floor mats?

Unfortunately, no-one currently makes a correct repro of the Anthracite-colored E-brake boots. My way of doing it was to buy a cheap grey-ish EMPI boot and some Anthracite spray paint from Wolfsburg West. Turned out nicely after drying and matched the old shift boot fairly well.

Do you have a picture of your brake boot or does anyone?

When I did my 63 I looked and looked but never found a grey one, found the grey shifter boot but not the p-brake boot, appears that they are NLA.

Someone made them for a while but I haven't seen them for sale in quite a while. Like 2008.

The repro ones didn't match the original in my '63 though so I ended up gluing it back together rather than have a repro boot I didn't like.

Everett, Who's reproduction boot is that? The only grey one that I've seen so far is Empi's but for 65' and later, which has the side slits for the heater levers.

I would consider buying the one from Wolfsburg West and dying it with a product like SEM vinyl dye.

i really wish someone would make these gray boots for 56-63 cars. if i get my hands on one im gonna pop a mold and repro them.

WW only sells black
and their floor mats are a different gray than original
their tunnel mats are yet another gray,
and the fire wall is a third gray
with only black e brake boots available

attention to details? NOT - I call it the great " harlequin floor fiasco"

what exact paint was used for that? I just purchased WW grey mats -- been looking for the grey e-brake book and shift boot to no avail----

what color paint did you use?

Looks like he used anthracite, which you can get in spray cans from Wolfsburg West. The tall white can next to his painted boot is a Wolfsburg West product.
