A whole 10 months have passed, and sadly I've hardly worked on this thing. Time has been . . . tight to say the least.
The only updates I have are:
1) I have finished my rear brakes. The right rear hard line was a huge pain to replace, but it is finally done.
2) I have acid prepped and painted the inside of my drivers side heater channel, and the running board panel is ready to weld in, if only I can get somebody to help me do it, because if I try to do it myself. . . well, lets just say it wont be pretty.

Progress!

Got some metal-work accomplished. Not Done, but accomplished.
I'll have to have a buddy who knows how to weld come help me finish, cause my welding sucks.

Running board panel fitted and tacked in place.

And no pics, but I also got the front channel/wheel well area prepped and ready to weld some new metal in there too. But I still need to cut and form the sheet metal to go in there.
Maybe I can do that this week.

Question: Who can tell me how to grind out the welds in corners where the angle grinder cant fit?

Started removing the rear half of the floor pan.

Still have to remove another bolt or two from the front so i can get it low enough to cut off on the heater channel side.

I was finally able to see how these were mounted...
They welded the new pans to the bottom, rather than to the top.

Im trying to figure out how much metal I want to remove. The new pan quarter reaches to about the halfway point on the seat tower. Not sure I want to go through the hassle of removing all that metal. So I might either cut the new quarter a little shorter, or overlap them a few inches. Probably I'll cut to be safe and make less place for rust, although the new part is much better than the old.
Any thoughts?

6+ months later, I've not got much more done.
My wife went and had a baby. Very Happy

But she's getting pretty anxious to get the (inoperable) bug out of the garage.
Either fix it, or dump it.

So, I finally found someone to help me with the welding. A guy is coming over in a week to spend the entire day cutting and welding my floor pans, rocker panels, etc etc etc. He's trading me for a motorcycle jacket (I own a company that makes custom motorcycle gear). Long story short, it'll be a good deal for him, and a good deal for me. And hopefully a week from Saturday, all my welding work will be done and I can start getting her operable again, and ready for a quickie cheapie paint job.

PS. I did get that driver's side pan quarter out and the new one in place (not welded, but bolted in for welding).

Pics!

Disclaimer: Yes, I do know the pans are not put in quite the right way, but that's the way the previous ones were done, and I didnt want the hassle of changing it. I do know the patch in the pass rear wheel well is a mess. But I dont care. Very Happy
