Here's the pedal assembly I removed from my 64:
The same assembly with the pieces I can send to convert it to a later style:
Close up:
The extra accelerator pedal piece can be included if your bottom piece is attached to the pan and is now gone (because you replaced them). It'll make the pedal assembly 'self contained'.
I'd recommend taking this one apart, cleaning and lubricating it before installing it. The clutch pedal hook is in pretty good shape. |

I'm trying to find out more on my square. I can't seem to figure out what any of this means. I looked at the vin info under the technical section and I'm still lost. Can anyone help?

The top plate has your VIN #.
Also the model (Typ 36 - Squareback)
The rest of the numbers on that plate are the permissible loads for the axle and the entire car. And some numbers saying the heating system complies with German regulations.
The bottom photo is your VIN # on the pan.
There is no info there except the prefix of 365 tells you it's a Squareback (36) and the year (5=1965) _________________ How to Post Photos

It's August of 64 if you're not dyslexic at 4am, sure...
I read it as 365 108 507 because I was probably still half asleep.
Good catch, Bob. |

Early hours and sleep deprivation will do that to a man. I know exactly where you're coming from x2.
Was there any sign of the paint code sticker under the hood? It would be a silver paper sticker on the bulkhead behind the spare wheel well to the right. _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

Right. The 65 model year started in August '64. The production figures listed in the chart above are given for the end of the month. So by August 31st they had reached 024 782, yours being 018 507 would have been mid-late August. The birth certificate will tell you more.
As has been mentioned, starting in '65 and running to end of production the third digit denoted the year, so breaking down your VIN 365 018 507 -yours is a squareback (36), 1965 (5), and the 18,507th (018 507) made that year. _________________ Air does not freeze. Air does not boil.

sweet! thanks, that makes a lot more sense. I was making it much more complicated!
i was doing some research on getting the birth certificate. It seems like its quite the ordeal now and often the info is incorrect. |

it wasn't an ordeal for me at all and quite accurate. Not sure what you researched, this was only a year ago for my type34. even a seperate document stating the engine was the original. Honestly, it was very very easy _________________ Stop dead photo links! Post your photos to The Samba Gallery! |

i found a thread on here about it. Sounded like a lot of people were getting inaccurate data, it was taking 4-5 months, sometimes they would say the microfiche was to warn to get info, etc, etc....
maybe it was just the normal complaining!
I still want to try it. Did you just use that website or did you fax it? |

Anybody know where I can find a rear support kick panel piece that goes under the back seat? Mine is about 50% gone! I hear they are pretty hard to come by! |

Your fab guy should be able to "fake" the bottom missing part, as it gets covered in carpet when it's done. What you'll also need fabbed up will be the "support legs", that also tie to the floor pan. I think Monte has some great shots of what it should look like.
You're going to have to do some custom fabbing for them anyway, since you're using modified ghia pans.
Like Mike said, most of them are gone already. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof
