Help!
I'm starting this project on my windows and I CANNOT get the frame screws out! They are so stuck, it seems impossible. Any suggestions?
Thanks,

Penetrating oil. Soak the screws for a day atleast. |

Use a very good Phillips head screw driver for the removal of the screws. The larger handle the better for the best grip. Be carefull not to strip the screw heads. |

Hello Curtis,
I watched through all of your videos and I am wondering if you could explain a bit more specifically about the polishing process that you Had talked about above.
How did you get them to such a shine?
Also, as I understand Aluminum will begin to fade and tarnish all over again after polishing. I was reading something about anodizing after cleaning these. What might you know of this? _________________ 1989 Westfalia Vanogan GL, 2.1 |

This thread is what TheSamba is all about! Thank you Curtis for posting these videos. Without your help I don't think I would have finished my louvered window! It took me about a week to do everything since I have little to zero experience with buffing and handling glass. I feel very confident when it comes to taking on the other side! This project was by far the most frustrating and tedious project that I've encountered with my bus. _________________ '71 Westfalia - Big Red

I have to agree that this is one of the most tedious jobs in restoring a Westy! |

I totally counted my chickens before they hatched when I wrote that post yesterday. I went outside thinking that putting the actual window frame into my bus would be an easy gig. Three hours later I did it! After a few failed attempts I figured out how to get it done. The top of the frame needs to get in first. I pushed the frame in on an angle starting in the middle and slowly worked my way up. Make sure you have something plastic to push the seals in. Its supposed to rain later on today so time to see if theres any leaks! _________________ '71 Westfalia - Big Red

|
|
Hey guys,
I will be tackling this project next week. I didn't seen anyone mention if they drilled out the main rivets that appear to hold the window mechanism in place.
I have attached a photo by Richard Atwell where you can see the rusty rivets I'm referring too. I don't have it apart yet but was wondering if it was possible to replace these? If possible would be replacing them with stainless.
Any thoughts?
I love the youtube tutorials by the way. Will definitely be using them as well Richard Atwells excellent description.
Thank you all for you dedication and hard work!

Thank you. The Jaluosie refresh is one of the most labor intensive projects on a Camper. My hats off to all those that go down this road;) _________________ Special Thanks to:
