I am trying to decide if building my car to 1500 club standards is worth it or possible at this point. my car is a 1965 1500S vin makes it an early 65. the motor is a 1600 single port from an early 1966. the car is on an IRS pan. I will need to add the irs engine hangers to the engine bay i have them they just need to be welded in. is the motor and the pan going to disqualify me? |

The IRS and 4 lug WILL disqualify you. The 1600 part is fine. Read the first page of this thread, as it'll give you some guide lines. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Jason told me that IRS was a good modification, as long as it was stock ride height. The 1600 engine is good. Disk brakes and dual circuit master cylinder are ok. Some of these things are safety improvements and I can understand why they might be allowed. However, other stuff like 4-lug, narrowed front beams and lowering disqualifies.
Jason is the final arbiter for this stuff and he may have changed the requirements. |

This is cool, thanks for posting it.
I have a question for the experts here based on what is written on page 11 in that manual.
It says the center arm rest was discontinued, and I assume this is the back seat center arm rest.
In the 1965 Germany purchased 1500 S, very stock, that I now have there is an arm rest in the back seat.
Do most 64 and 65 1500s not have the arm rest in the back seat? |

Yoy have raised an interesting question.
My September 64 'S' has the back seat with arm rest.
My early 64 'S' did not have the back with arm rest.
Both cars were German assembled 'S' and sent to Australia.
Was it an M code to not equip the back seat with the arm rest?
anyone have anything further to add with respect to these cars? _________________ Aaron
