Very cool find. I gotta ask though, what's the story with the Herbie in the back?

The Herbie behind the Bähnle is a relict of "Herbie fully loaded".

Wow,

Just when I thought I know a lot about Romesch, this "new" type of Rometsch shows up. Great to add this to the Rometsch collection in HO.

What will be next
Goliat GP 700 coupe?
Fiat with Rometsch body
Borgward Hansa 1500 with Rometsch body
Opel Kapitan Coupe with Rometsch body.

Is there any chance that one of these (Non VW) Rometsches will be add to the Rometsch collection in HO?

1 down, 3 to go...

No, you forgot the DKW F12 lieferwagen ..... Cool They built out of a regular sedan ( small car indeed) in 59 a stationcar with closed sides.
I'll see if I can find a pict of it.( I have it at my home PC)

Let me speak in christians name: the bähnle will now be brought back to life/drive very very carefully. HO 2013 sounds realistic. Smile aircooled world, please feel free to enjoy the weekly updates here at thesamba.com!

So, they haven't sit still in the last couple of weeks.

The Bähnle was traded to the Prototype-Museum in Hamburg. They will bring it back on the road and have the recources to build and legalize the maching trailer.

Did you know, that there were also narrow gauge trains for parks, designed with parts of old DKW and VW parts, using aircooled VW or Porsche engines Question

Look here:

http://www.saarwolf.com/html/berlin1955.html

if you switch on the city names at the top of the page, you can see the development of these trains.
Under "Schienenlose", there is an article about the "Bähnle" of this threat Shocked !

And here:

As you can hear, the valves are well adjusted! Laughing

I believe that is the one that the VW factory used for tours. I think it is on display in the VW museum.

No, this is not the one of the VW Factory!
During 1956 and 1957, this was a short undergrond line to reach the exhibition "Interbau" in Berlin. The line went through real underground tunnels that have not been completed with rails for the underground yet, as they were recently build. The distance was between the stations Berlin "Hansaplatz" and "Zoologischer Garten".
They had build two trains, "Onkel Arthur" and "Eduard I", named after VW dealer Eduard Winter and the constructor Arthur Franke, together the two had build up these trains.

And today the oval was moved from the storage in Hamburg, this time to get the attention it deserves by the new owner.

Would anyone know if the wagons have survived or where we could find more info on them?
