From the Wiki: Because of the deficiencies in the original design, Frederick asked the then 77-year-old Hans Ledwinka, the former Tatra engineer, to design a robust chassis for the car. The result was a central tube frame and four wheels – in contrast to the original three-wheeled Brütsch. Frederick then saw himself no longer obligated to pay royalties to Brütsch, which led to a court case, which Frederick won. The judges recognising that the original Brütsch construction was both useless and dangerous. |

I wanted to post this pic here because it's cool.
still unknown why VW never made a small 'city delivery' (not counting a type3 wagon) though they could/should have used a flat T3 and/or T4 engine.

I'd never seen it before either but saw the door latch and white paint out line on the front fender and thought that's an AMC--that and the red one to the right lol, must be at a show. |
