Confused

1956 Spatz

From the Wiki: Because of the deficiencies in the original design, Frederick asked the then 77-year-old Hans Ledwinka, the former Tatra engineer, to design a robust chassis for the car. The result was a central tube frame and four wheels – in contrast to the original three-wheeled Brütsch. Frederick then saw himself no longer obligated to pay royalties to Brütsch, which led to a court case, which Frederick won. The judges recognising that the original Brütsch construction was both useless and dangerous.

Yep. I loved seeing Figaros on the road in Japan when I was there in the early 90s. The scaled-up T-Bird version on US roads ten years later, not so much.

while some here will get this right away
I wanted to post this pic here because it's cool.

still unknown why VW never made a small 'city delivery' (not counting a type3 wagon) though they could/should have used a flat T3 and/or T4 engine.
