Had my 77 Vert painted in January. Now it's time for wax. What's the best wax to use the first time for a freshly painted bug. |

Mother's or Meguiar's (sic?).
Use one of their wash/wax products for washing, too.

Go to auto detail supply store,Im sure there is one in San Antonio..very cherry or cherry wet wax is a pure carnauba wax,no solvents or compounds like most over the counter auto supply waxes..buy or borrow a decent buffer,I have a multi speed De Walt...
the results are stunning with no paint removal.. |

This is the equivalent of having to ask for the volcano sauce at the counter cause they can't put it out on the table _________________ I'm the humblest guy on this board.

I hate waxing, but I do it--by hand--using Meguiar's.
I use their car wash-with-wax stuff to wash the car also, but it seems to take the wax off in about six weeks. Anyone have a better car wash that doesn't scew with the wax job so quickly? Or is Meguiar's wax not as long-lasting as I have been led to believe?

Cleaner waxes work great with existing wax jobs ,it removes the imbedded debris and minor scratches.. the OP is waxing fresh paint.. foam pad some carnauba wax
I used body shop compound on the car shown prior to carnauba due to the high amount of oxidization, on cars with an existing wax shine you want to freshen either use cleaner wax.. or rock a clay bar like the pros do..
make waxing less of a chore by using a stool or a chair..cold beer helps as well, its one of the few jobs where you can knock back a few and not affect the work.. |
