Take a look at the "Fernon chop" over on Volksrods.com or just do a Google on it and you will find quite a bit of info. With this style of chop the back window stays the same since the roof drops down inside the body.
You do not need a donar roof but you will need two extra doors.
The front glass can be cut with a diamond tipped cut off wheel available at all the big Home improvement stores. The side glass in the doors still fits
fine if you run wing windows otherwise you need to have that glass made as well as the rear side glass. For wing windows you will need 71? and above.
Those have the frame painted silver and are not chrome so you can cut them to size and weld them back up. One important note is you need a Good welder! A harbor freight special is not going to cut it. VW metal is just to thin
and the lower model HF welders simply cannot adjust far enough down.
