73 914 1.7L won't crank now.... Ran for 10 minutes today, drove it out the drive way and back, as I came to a stop it died. Tried to crank it back up. All I got was a click. The car has a hot start relay, if I hold the key on it will blow the fuse after 5 or 6 seconds. Tried wiring it without the relay, and all I get is the same click.... Next guess is the starter went but not sure... What do you all think?

suggest you hot wire the solenoid to the starter.. bypassing the relay. Bosch 914 starters were suceptaible to heat damage. they acknowledged it 30 years after the car was built. cheak all your battery termianals for corrosiionl. be sure the battery is good. than check to be sure your alternator is putting out juice. clicking means bad contact and not juice to the starter.

Thanks for the reply, forgot to update... I replaced the starter and haven't had any issues since.
