I even have securit OG glass -one piece that fits after cut one window.

I could see where you'd want to do this in about 1955. Today, not so much. But it would greatly improve visibility.

Actually the aftermarket suppliers went further than that, and when Volkswagen shifted to the square rear window, also conversion kits came on the market to convert your rear window section from oval window to square rear window.
So basically you could modernize your split beetle with an oval window when Volkswagen stopped producing the split window cars, and when Volkswagen shifted to square rear window and the oval window became out of fashion, you could turn it into a square window to make it modern again Laughing And while they were at it, they mounted fender blinkers and got rid of those ugly semaphores as well Wink... nice and modern.
And nowadays if you want to modernize it even more, you can put in a Subaru engine Very Happy
