Bonjour,
I am driving through France with my -65 bug, well, I was before its generator broke down near Épinal. I think it broke down because of problems in the regulator. So I'd need them both: a 6-volt generator and regulator for it - they should be both Bosch (111903021H number for generator). I have not found such pieces from here yet.
Does somebody have such nearby in France or should we head towards Germany (Saarland)? Or would there be a magician around to fix the generator (of which at least the armature seems to be breaking down evidenced by handful of copper in the motor space)? I would need someone to do the actual task of replacing as well, I don't have tools nor experience.
Thank you very much, merci beaucoup!
Oz (not magician in terms of generators) |

i am about 250 km from you and can probably get you sorted.
if you charge your battery before starting out you should manage that distance no bother. |

well it's nearly 9 hours since ozmo joined the samba to post his plea for help, maybe we can assume that he's posted on dozens of forums and will never find his way back here to either say that he got sorted or not? |

Hi - nice. But where are you? Which direction 250 km? I am going to see a car electrician now and let's see if 250 km is realist or not. The best would be if you'd be in north from here - I hope you are! I'm not sure I can access internet soon, but my number is +358 40 5796078, send me a message. Thank you very much! |

if you look to the left of this space where i'm writing it says where i'm located.
so while it is just possible that i could be 250 km north of you if i was on my way back home from a northern excursion, i think it's more reasonable to assume that i'm at home.
that's 250km south of you.
no help i'm afraid, sorry.
you have a long way to go if your phone number is any indication.
sent you a text anyway. |

Thanks all!
Yes, oorwullie, indeed there was a long way to go - to a middle of Finland. But I succeeded to find a piece from Germany (the right direction for us) and got our way back home. Yes, I saw your location afterwards. Thank you very much for your help! The meeting for sure would have been a good place to search. We did have much time, thought.
And el_safari, thanks for your help, it would have been good, but I found the dynamo from close to Heidelburg (rather close to Strasbourg).
With its new generator (and regulator) our little bug got us well to Finland - some 3000 km together from Switzerland. With our scarce time schedule we drew the big roads and did not see any other old bugs in Germany, Denmark, Sweden or Finland.. better to remain in small roads.
I wish you all an excellent summer (for those in the Northern hemisphere)! |
