|
|
So I know the classic idea of replacing the VW engine with a Corvair flat 6 but has anyone seen a Corvair with a VW engine? Before I get flack I am not gonna do this...yet hehe. But I was thinking if a strocker VW with a Turbo or blower were put into a corvair it could be a pretty mean ride with easy to find parts for repair and upgrading |

You would also need to install a VW transaxle. Corvair engines and transaxles rotate CCW.
Whatever power you can get out of a VW, you can get that much and more out of a 2.7L (stock) to 3.5L (stroker) Corvair engine. Its just as easy to find performance Corvair parts and the quality is consistently as good.

hmmm... where are some good places to find corvair parts? I don't even know where I would start. I think a turbo corvair would be pretty sweet and a bit of a sleeper |

The biggest issue is engine rotation.. for just about ANY engine to be installed in a Corvair.
Popular conversions include 3800 V6 and LS V8's in the Corvair... after reversing their rotation of course.
Blasphemy.. putting a VW engine in a Chevy.... who would do such a thing..
In all seriousness. The flat 6 GM engine never got much credit, but they are pretty good engines.
Parts are more expensive than typical Vw engine parts.
Im guessing you have a Corvair..car? _________________ aka Ken {o\!/o}

No I don't but I always like to think of a possible project one day down the road. I figured it would be something unique to make a sleeper corvair that made big power but wasn't sure of how the chevy bottom end would hold up |

I'd be more concerned about the engine holding up! _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife
