Way to go Bill; hope to see you there. That's a long drive, but I don't think anybody will top Sam.

hey Guys,

i'm still in the "not sure catagory" on this trip, I sent a PM to Ron but figured I'd post a update.

i'm ballparking a 2 day ride out and back for me, planned on tow-bar trip but the F150's goin in the shop tomorrow for yearly inspection, so not sure if it's going to need major work yet.(possible brakes and front end issues).

Hoping we can go, my buddy Kenny is up for a return trip as co-pilot/mechanic but a 2 day trip in the Thing and trying to get over the Wva Mountains we may never make it to Charleston much less to Brandon MO. Very Happy

I'm going to check now with the hotel and see if any rooms are left, stay tuned!

(update) I just noticed the register by date is July 11th, not "tomorrow", so whew, maybe I do still have some time here. (duh on my part Rolling Eyes )

Time is running out. 18 days to go. This is a reminder to pre register and order T-shirts. Unlike other VW shows we plan your whole weekend. Hotel, meals, entertainment and drives. This is why it is very helpful to us to know how many cars to expect. Hotel special rate deadline is July 11. For a flyer go to kubeltreffen181.com Info Lorie Church [email protected] or Ron Domeck [email protected] Hope to see you there.

PostPosted: Tue Jul 15, 2014 1:57 pm    Post subject: hauler truck got me again! Reply with quote

Well,

after getting my hauler F150 inspected and ready for the trip, I blew out the rear brake line this weekend, so it's back in the shop for a recheck.
It was a rusty spot in the line.

THANK GOD! Pray it didn't occur going over the WVA mountains with the THING in tow! Shocked

SO, if this fix dont put me in the poor house, we're still planning on making the trip.

Fingers crossed! Anxious

Ron, isn't that that vinyl accessory he has at the back end of his car? Or is that just a tonneau to balance out the look....? Wink

Y'all have fun, not my year for KTE..

update

more repaired brake lines and a few other items on my F150 and we're getter closer to ready.

Test pulled the THING with my truck yesterday, seemed ok but my home-made mud flaps and my trailer hitch and THING are too close for comfort doing a turn. Don't want to crunch the front bumper or headlights with my trucks bumper if doing a sharp turn!

Hopefully If I can get a longer drop hitch that should fix the issue.

Pulled the seats out of the THING to get ready for a good cleaning of the inside for the show. Man that sure makes it easier to do stuff with them seats out! Very Happy

Weather don't look bad right now for Branson, maybe 94 for the show.
Hope we make it! Pray

I'll be leaving Detroit early Thursday morning, and expect to be in St. Louis Thursday afternoon. If any St. Louis people want to look me up, I'll be downtown, at the Drury Inn by the Arch. See y'all in Branson Friday afternoon.

Safe travels to all, Mondshine
