'55 ribbed door window regulator question

Do you guys know if the window regulators in my '55 oval with ribbed doors are different that other doors? There is a set of '56 door regulators for sale but I don't know of they will work.

They are different, you need 52/55 regulators.

The big difference is that they work opposite to each other. IOW, they crank oppositely.
The roller that engages in the slot of the sash faces towards the inside of the car on one, and to the outside on the other.

Couldn't you just run a 56 and up window then?

Another physical difference is the lifting arm. Arm on the 1953-55 is flat. The arm on the 1956-64 has a "S" bend to it.

you can make the 56-64 regulators work.i have done it in a 54 i used to own.

you have to flip the glass sash over so the roller channel is on the right side
and you will have to space the regulator mounting points a little deeper into the door
