I know it's just a 912 body with a 1915cc VW motor, but I thought there may be followers of this car on this forum. The car was a salvage after being rolled in the 70's. That is why it is a chop top.
My husband and I recently bought the car and brought it back to the USA. I was around back when it was campaigned, 1978-1992. It's a very special car, was way ahead of it's time, and I would like to see Ray Vallero restore it. We surprised him with it last weekend and a party at Tony Klink's (progas record holder) new shop M45. He hadn't seen it for 22 years and had lost track of where it went.
Stay tuned for a new thread that goes over all the components of this incredible time capsule's components that were all fabricated in it's time.

That's amazing! I've seen many pictures of this car online and I always wondered what became of it. I had no idea it was a steel body - please post lots of pictures of the restoration process! I wasn't around when this thing was campaigned but I still find it fascinating. _________________ -Cam

It's actually part fiberglass. Here is a rundown from Ray Vallero:
"The nose of the car was made by Fiberglass Trends, so were the doors. The body is steel. I brought this car back from a complete total. The car went over a canyon and the roof was smashed flat from the accident when I purchased the car. I first had to try to resurrect the roof to its stock shape, then chopped the top 4". I probably removed about 10 pounds of factory lead from around the front door and rear window area, before I could do any welding of any kind on the body. Lead contaminates the weld. I will have much more to talk about the construction of the car in about a week or so. I'm still looking the car over for its integrity." _________________ Dawn
