Yes. Those are used in the 1960-1961 horns. I have not seen an aftermarket source for them. You might try a WTB ad in the Samba classifieds or you might have to fabricate something to match what you have.
You may have already seen this thread regarding the 60-61 horns but if not here is the link.http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=369613 _________________ 1960 beetle

Ouch! What a part to miss! Gotta' love the idiosyncrasies of 1960. I got exactly 3 with my 60, or I would happily pay one forward. You might find brass hardware at a specialty shop, and if you had to, you could get close on the size and then do some magic with a tap and die. Good luck. I have the Rose City Bug In coming up Aug 3, and I'll have an eye out for 60 only stuff. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

Try a good hardward store that caters to the machinist type. They don't look all that different from what I have on my 65. I think my springs are longer though. I have the opposite problem, female threads are mucked up in the steering wheel portion. Good luck! _________________ 1965 Type 1 Deluxe. stock/powered by 6 volts & the super powerful 1200cc engine. |

Im going to try to make something, 1/8 solid brass mig rod. Mushroom the head a bit, very close, may have to widen hole a few thousands but we shall see. Im gona pic up some rod later this week.
If it works Ill post a pic of the new next to old. |

What? These horn contact pins are used on 1960-61 beetles & Ghias only. 1962-71 steering wheels use a whole different horn contact system _________________ 1947 Typ 11a

Anyone confirm the part # as 113 951 549 ? I'm sure these are correct and VW Germany still has them,
Gowesty is their US Partner and maybe able to assist or tag it onto my next order from Germany if the number is correct.

My 1961 is missing all three of these pins. Could someone post the dimensions? I'd like to see if I could make something close to get my horn working again. |

I believe I have a couple of these available, PM me if interested in some. Also have a '60-'61 horn ring.
Update: Here is the set I have available, $25 shipped for it all.

Also, my horn ring is pitted for those that asked. So not perfect chrome. _________________ ---

I'm redoing a '60 sedan whose horn never worked. If you weren't all that concerned about originality, couldn't you just replace the steering column with a later one with easier to replace horn parts? Or would that open up a whole new can or worms? |

Not a can of worms, and people do it, using 62-up columns, turn sig switch, and steering wheels. It simplifies the horn and turn signal wiring, and is a nearly invisible alteration.
For me, it's about keeping the car's original hardware, especially since a lot if it on a 60 is one year only.
Didn't meant to hog from the OP, just my .02. _________________ Plate of shrimp |

all you need to to is replace the steering wheel and horn ring with a later one and run a wire down the center and wire it up like the latter. No need to replace the whole column. _________________ Rick

I have a 1961 Beetle Ragtop with a after market banjo wheel with no horn, To clarify, if I ordered as 1962 steering wheel and horn assembly from WW it would fit the 1961 column. The only difference is I would add another wire going up the column to complete the circuit for the horn?
Thanks in advance! |
