Most wideband sensors are now heated, so how close to the motor to get enough heat is no longer as big as issue or even an issue like it once was. |

they will read right when the elements are heated and the exhaust is the hotest. The elements only read rite when heated and only read the egt where it is the hottest. EGT temp is what u r looking for on that set up. So, hottest part of the exhaust before the turbo manifold. short tubes and a long collecter then the turbo manifold. Or O2 per cylinder |

I'm sure that system works fine for you. The prob is the 02 sensors heated or not rely on heat and and fumes ( The carbons and the oxygens and others) hence the heated oxy sensor will read better faster, But the levels should be read at the hottest spot before or at the turbo manifold where the exhaust connects from the engine to the turbo. After the turbo locations can lead to alot of inaccurate readings, as alot of temps and gas changes accure when going through the turbo to drive the turbine. Can you tune it with it after the turbo? Sure you can!! But you are gonna weld a bung in anyways to get the most accurate tune put it on the engine side.
People have tuned carbs for years without a o2 thats like putting the o2 after the turbo! yes it can be done, but why? |

Check for clearance of the cars body once sensor is placed. You wouldn't want to find out later the body/wire tail of the sensor is hitting the rear apron area. Mine is placed there too. You can read up on opinions of after turbo placement but lots of folks, not only VW's run them after. |

After the turbo, in a location that doesn't interfere with the body, but not so close to the outlet of the downpipe that you get mixing with fresh air at low rpm.
Before the turbo? Sure, if your wideband is pressure compensated, and you don't mind the risk of a $60 sensor disintegrating and trashing a $600+ turbo. _________________

Why not just make a custom set of wires with a Y splice in them. Then you could just run one distributor. |
I don't think electrickery works that way |
