Swing axle to IRS conversion. has anybody done this? is it hard? if you have done it are there any tips or tricks or any advice you can give me about it to make it a little easier? is it one of those things that you can just bolt in or do you have to do some cutting and welding? please help! i am kinda new to VW's so if you need more info please let me know! |

Its been dome may time by many people...
Other then cutting small holes in frame horns for end of pivot assemblies and welding them in (the pivot assemblies) everything is bolt on....
You will need jig to position pivot point correctly.... There are several places you can probably rent one if you do not whan to go to all the effort to make one...

I did it. And it was not fun. I had to relocate the ebrake tubes and heater tubes. Then my trailing arms hit the stock swing axle shock towers so I had to cut them off and make new ones. It's not a quick and done thing. If you have the skills though then go for it. Just check, double check, check again and don't heat up any spot too much it could warp of pull the pivots in one direction or another. _________________ My build:
