My rail came with the ribbed grooved tractor farm front tires. I am going to use then for sand but how durable are they for street and hard packed desert trails?

Farm tires are probably the most durable tires you can run off road. Ever see what tractors are put through on a daily basis?

The downside is that they are not designed for high speed use, so have fun trying to balance them for street use. If I was making a pure woods buggy, ribbed farm tires would be my first choice for the front. For a mix of woods, trail, and street, there are better options out there in my opinion.

They work fine at 60mph but will they handle gravel and loose rocks?

Yes, they will handle gravel and loose rocks. These tires were designed for heavy farm equipment . Gravel and rocks won't hurt them one bit. They are much tougher than any light truck mud tire currently on the market.

But, you have been warned about the speed limit of these tires. Sure, you can light up a cigaret at a gas station, but it is not a good idea.

Think of those tires as round gobs of rubber. Not even remotely considered to exceed the speed of a tractor. Usually less than 35mph. Think of it this way, less engineering than a bias truck tire....which usually ride like crap. But durable as hell for off road use.

They do, however, they still are not rated for highway speed use if you are looking to drive on the road with them.

If you find one of those tires with a speed rating higher than 35, post it up. I have never seen such a thing here in Michigan. Maybe in other parts of the world people like to drive their tractors a little differently Laughing

You could probably make a very tasty salad entirely from paint chips off the windowsill in your kitchen too. is it a good idea? Laughing
