During my rebuild I purchased new wiper shafts(WW). Ever since the car has been on the road the wipers fall apart once a year. I just reviewed the hot vws article on wipers. I've done all that stuff to the tee. My question is, should the shafts spin freely? The one side spins with little resistance but the side you connect the two arms too has significantly more. I thought that was originally my problem but upon receiving the new ones they are the same. _________________ Speed Leaving Without Warning . . .

Did you lubricate them at all? They should spin pretty freely - a little resistance is OK, but not a lot. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

yeah - good idea. The shaft itself can be removed - little C clip holding it in place, but you dont want to mess with it unless they tell you to. _________________ D-Dubya Manx clone - 63 Short pan,1914.

I called WW yesterday and all they had to say was lube them. I am not convinced lube is going to allow them to spin freely. When I say freely, shouldn't they spin around without my finger being on it for a full rotation? If I take the top c-clip off it did that on the previous one but I have not removed the clip from the new one. _________________ Speed Leaving Without Warning . . .
