I remember a story from a letter on a early 90s issue of HotVWs magazine, somebody wrote he found a 23 window BD shell in a (California?) desert...anybody remembers that or knows if it has ever been restored?

I believe the 23 you are speaking of was found in Mexico and someone from Cali bought it/ got it. If that is the one, this is a pic of it circa 2007. I will let the owner chime in if they want to be known.

Almost every panel on this bus was beat/ warped or had bullet holes when they found it.

Thanks Norman, I knew that bus had to be somewhere waiting a restoration if not already restored.
Hope the owner will like to share its story.

It's been sitting in storage since that last pic. Might be time to pick it up and roll it like it is.
