Dont pull torsions just drive a little longer at stock height and do it the right way thats why my 58 is still mile high I would rather have a good looking car and have a good Safe right rather than a good looking car with a crap ride and wondering if the trailing arm is going to come off if I make a quick turn... just me Rolling Eyes

I'd say look at your controll arms, when they start to point up instead of back, you know it's going to ride like shit. Cut off the bump stops, they will make it bottom out too quickly on a lowered ride. My controll arms point allmost straight up, but it's slammed with no spindles. I narrowed mine 4", disabled the bottom spring pack completely by cutting the divits out of the center of the tube, left the springs in so the control arms would have something to grab ya know. Welded one adjuster in the top tube...now it's about 1" off the ground with the adjuster all the way down. 1 spring disabled should drop you pretty good without welding in an adjuster or taking out leaves. You'll want to make a sheetmetal sleeve to put around the tube after you cut out the divits, you can weld it on, or use large hose clamps to hold it on. (coke can may work good if you're going to use hose clamps)

I think my beam is lower than yours, even with both of the adjusters. No spindles on mine either in this picture. Rode like shit that low though.

Your tires are smaller, that's the only reason. Wink. One adjuster, two adjusters, doesn't really matter as long as you angle the hell out of them. I just wanted to try one, I have another beam I'm going to install two in later and run spindles. Tell ya what, I'll drop mine all the way with my new tires and measure it on concrete. I'll take a pic too, bet it sits on the ground. Razz

Yeah, too bad I sold it. I hella miss that rusty pile of shit. That thing was a trip to ride in too, I used to drive it every day. I would drive it anywhere too, long trips, through the mud, I even drove it through Rio Linda when it flooded. hahahaha that was fun.

I can't tell you what some of the previous posters used, but some of the really goofy folks actually run silly spares. NOT RECOMMENDED! It looks like that may be whats on the front of the red car.

I've read somewhere on here that Smart Car tires can be used too.

Alright, I'm just gonna take a guess that 135's would work just fine on a car that low

135s, or now we use smart car tires. they're like 155/50 or something like that. 135s ride better, but the 155s stop better.

If you run 14 inch wheels you open up all kinds of possibilities. These tires are wider, and have some sidewall. Result was a good look, good ride, and a better stopping distance than the 135.

These are the 155s from a smart car. They're made by continental.

This is what you don't want, and is also what most tire shops offer people with lowered cars. 195s Shocked

This is the 65 sunroof from the mid 90s movie bongwater. It had these 195s on it when it was found.
