What's the plan for the pan? Does it need anything other than the beam replacement, tire clearancing, and the bit of rust fix on the edges? |
You say that like that much will be simple to do. A lot of patching will need to be done, to the point where I'll probably wish I'd completely replaced the pans. (And after that, I'll probably wish I'd thrown away the body, too.)

Instead of doing all of that, maybe you can convince this seller to ship?

You would save a bunch of money, and a ton of time too. |
I already bought a replacement beam from Gary/Icy (Culito facilitated), so I'm set there. Just need to dig in once I've properly fixed the battery tray and heater channel in the Beetle. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

Another pic from back in the day (07/14/2006)... Came across it looking for a different picture.

Thanks David! I hadn't seen that picture in a while. Note how little I trusted the parking brake at the time. _________________ 1974 Thing -- under the knife

That Thing looks pretty cool!
I've been looking at a lot of pictures of Things lately, and I've never seen one with traction-plating before! Although I guess in your case maybe it was used to hold the rust parts together? |
