I'm in Oakland, we should get together and cruise the squares. I'm also pretty new up here and been looking for some VW peoples to hang with.
Are you planning on cruising down early October for that rally? |

Just installed a new Vintage Speed exhaust. Was sick of the large triple bolt flange scraping the ground every time I pulled in my driveway. I scraped a good 1.2 inch of metal and half the lower bolt right off.

When you ordered these, were they type 3 specific? Do they have the correcet backspacing?
Your car is sick by the way. Love it. |
They have the correct backspacing. Bought them from Cip1.

Just dropped off my square to have my new Berg 5 speed with short axles installed!! Also dropping in my new Powerhaus 2332 this week.
Next up is new disc brakes on all 4 corners, w/new bolt pattern. Thinking Porsche as of now.

Berg 5 speed and Powerhaus 2332 installed.. Took quite a bit of massaging to get this thing done. Apparently Berg does not make the brackets for a Type 3 but my mechanic worked some magic.
My vintage speed exhaust is too small for the motor so need to get a new exhaust. Looks like'll need a 1 3/4 A1 exhaust.

That does look good. Just be glad you're not any lower or you'll be replacing that sump. Looks like you could go back to a large tube header now. _________________ Bob 65 Notch S with Sunroof

Well, it's definitely going lower. We raised the rear since the engine is heavier that stock. I ordered larger rear torsion bars so that it's stiffer and hopefully won't bottom out as easy.
Next up, dual circuit master cylinder, and rear disc conversion, and adjustable rear spring plates. |

Trying on the new shoes after drop spindles and new 5x130 rotors. Was lowered two inner splines but raised 1 since 2 inch drop from the spindles.
I got a rear disc convertion kit to install next then installing 16x8's on the rear.

Also swapped in 26mm rear torsion bars and new adjustable sway-a-way spring plates.

Rear disc conversion. Would like a taller rear tire in the future. Might need to roll fenders but hope not. I'm converting to dual master cylinder next week and putting in new ebrake cables so can't test drive yet. With the 26mm torsion bars the back is very stiff so not much travel.

Yeah, rolled back and forth. Gave a few good bounces and still not touching. |

Maiden voyage after installing rear discs, new rear springs, 26mm torsion bars, 16" BBS Mahle wheels, dual circuit master cylinder, drop spindles, new A-1 1 5/8 exhaust.
No rubbing in the rear.. brakes work.

Wow.
Love it!
Those 8s in the back are tough to fit.
Break it in easy.. Get some miles on it before you start banging gears..
