| I have installed a new horn in my 63 beetle. All new wires as well. The horn will not work with the standard length wire to the steering wheel if I use a shorter wire and ground on the body closer to the horn it works. Any suggestions? |

It could be that the steering column is not connected to the horn or the long ground wire inside the column is not grounded or is broken. Not sure about the bug but on my Bus the column becomes the wire from the horn then there is a ground wire that comes up from ground around the steering coupler that goes to the button and when the button gets pressed it connects the column to that long ground wire. "Beep" At the horn it's has 6 volts or 12 volts on it all the time.
