the gearing ratios match perfectly in first and second to the bus trans with 4.12 .89 final drive. i have read through that particular thread fully about 100000000 times now haha Smile give or a take a couple

my little car has a type 1 tranny with a 4.37 ring, 4 spider super diff(very needed), 10 tooth spider gears, 10 tooth 002 end gears, and a close ratio 3rd and 4th and all the small stuff( hard keyed steel shift forked, ect.)
i have been thru 4 trannys and combos to come to this! by way of breaking them and converting to irs! this is a very good combo!!!! and yes you will break a stock diff with 31's if you play off road at all!

RD, what kind of shocks are you running on the front? I just went with the street KYB's since the front is so light.

Here's the little FB buggy I'm building for my daughter. She's 13 so I'm trying to build this thing on a budget and from as many left over parts as I have in my garage. I'm hoping to finish it for around 3K.

what it looked like when I picked it up

Got it onto the ground and drove it to get ice cream tonight about a 30 minute round trip. I was surprised at how cool it runs. Glad that I am sticking with 31's as I maxxed out in 4th gear at about 68mph should be able to squeeze out a bit more as my throttle cable is a bit loose. So I am truly only getting about 3/4-7/8 pedal right now.

Just for reference I have a 4.12 standard bug trans with 29"s and I'm cruising 55mph at around 2500rpms. I had a 4.86 in it before and 1st gear took me to about 9mph and top speed was 50mph!
