Your work looks good, but I'd still recommend that you move the fuel filter to underneath the car & get it away from on top of the engine. Also - use a metal canister style fuel filter instead of the cheap plastic one.

Great work Scotty, I (re)read the whole topic and am amazed at the amount of work you've done. Great to have access to a tooled-up garage with space to work!

Funny how us in Europe like to get american market elements (my Ghia still has its US tail-light, and there are countless Vanagon owners trying to get their hands on the US square headlights and probably as many US owners looking for the round ones). I guess it's a way of standing out of the crowd, even in the eyes of other VW enthusiasts. |

Impressive build! IME, the addition of a larger front sway bar and a rear sway bar to an IRS (1969-74) ghia makes a noticeable improvement in handling. I also like your choice of Centerline replicas. They add a bit of classic Cal-look performance vibe to your car. _________________ 1966 Karmann-Ghia convertible |

I never noticed much when I upped the size of the front bar, but adding one to the rear sure makes for a nice improvement.
Great build by the way. |

Very nice work ! I've never been a fan of the look of a narrowed beam on the Ghia, but if you're going to do it this is the way to go. |

I'm still new only having my car a year, but what does a "narrowed" front end give you on the Ghia? _________________ 1973 Karmann Ghia Convertible |

CiderGuy i had to narrow the beam because the wheels were already rubbing the lip of the fenders and drop spindles will push the wheels out another 1/4 inch. so i dont think it will have too much of a narrowed beam look. i also dont like the look of the wheels being deep in the fender wells.
varagon the reason for a narrowed beam is so wider wheels can be put on and so the car can be lowered and not have the wheel rub the inner or outer fender. |
What size wheels and tires are you using? |
