Anyone ever seen one of these before? A little over 1/8" thick aluminum and had homemade brackets installed. No manufacture marks anywhere so no idea who made it. Needs to be cleaned up and repainted but that should be easy.

That's a great item. They used to be sold through J.C. Whitney in the late '50s and early '60s, and you'd see them in ads in Foreign Car Guide.
There were a whole slew of different ones made for hot rodders, such as "lone wolf" etc. _________________ We are striving for perfection, to make our cars run forever, if possible.

Like Baron has said, its a typical "hot rod club" style plaque, but what makes it not typical is the fact that its aimed toward the VW crowd. You just don't see those very often now a days, unless also like Baron has said, you look in an old issue of Foreign Car Guide. _________________ WANTED: Henry Veale Santa Rosa plate frames

Cool, thanks for the info guys. It came with my '55 Euro Beetle which I picked up in Alberta some years ago. I guess I'll repaint it and put it back on the old girl one of these days. |

I just finished restoring one for my VW. I'd been looking for one for years. Definitely a neat piece to put back on your bug! |
