Haha I believe he meant temp not pressure lol 220psi would blow the case right in half. pressure should be above 40psi when driving. I would check the trans temp and if its high change the gear oil and check for metal shavings, you can also check the oil pressure relief plungers to make sure the aren't stuck in their passages. |

Sounds like the change in oil temperature is correlated with the seasons change. _________________

I changed the oil to 15w40 brad penn. temps still get hotter that before. ill try to get the external cooler installed asap.
guess its the change in season and the extra ground wire made the gauge work better.
cant think of anything else.
any other ideas? |

Not sure if this helps but I run a vdo dipstick sender I noticed my temps going up on a journey and checked everything.
Then realised a stand of wire in the connection was touching the dipstick it self with this sorted and with the van switched back again on the temp was back to normal.
If I touch the wire on the dipstick totally it would go up to max.
Just a thought ben _________________ 65 original paint so42 dormobile

Sounds like you may have dragging brakes. How old are the rubber hoses? The older they get the more they swell and act as one way valves. |

if there was any resistance to the engine the head temps would go up too right? there is a chance one brake drum may be dragging in the rear. but since the head temps haven't changed I assumed it wasn't timing, too lean, carb issues, or any kinda drag on the engine.
I need to take it for an hour or so drive to see what the actual operation temp is now. used to be 220, if its 240 now that's still fine. |
