I also gave up searching for original in good shape. I used a friend that is in the commercial flooring business to find a close match. This is what i decided to used. Ended up having enough to have "mats" that cover the entire carpet area.
It is more yellow than the original but looks really good in the bus.

Hey, I like that!
Would this be a special order type thing?
Do you mind if I ask how much you got and what it cost you? |
I believe the price was $16-17 a square yard.
The main issue I was dealing with is finding a carpet dealer to sell such a small amount due to shipping cost ect. |

Here's the money shot. Find a source for carpet that closely matches this, and you would make many Westy owners happy. This is the new set I bought from Kieft and Klok a few years back. I still haven't installed them, because for now I use my bus as a work truck, and don't want to trash the new beauties. If they didn't cost so much ($500 iirc) I wouldn't worry about it. And now, just having checked, Kieft and Klok doesn't even have them any more. (sigh )
Laid against GoWesty's green carpet set that doesn't match the originals at all;

Come on some of you internet hound dogs, locate a reasonably priced source for us. Together we could buy a big 'ol roll of it, and finish our own edges!!! _________________ 1978 Sage Green Westfalia (Happy Trails, SOLD)

That's what I was worried about. There are plenty of Mohawk dealers around here, guess I'll start calling around!

I see the "casual boucle" carpet is carried by several major retailers near me. I'll check it out over the next few days and see how it compares with the OG. Will report back. |

I got a good, close look today at this Shaw "Casual Boucle" (Fernwood color) at the local Hom Furniture store. I brought my Westy's small walkway carpet with me, which is a good sample as parts of it that were covered are in good, unfaded condition.
Sorry, but my comment about the Shaw carpet is "move along, nothing to see here".
Here's why:
1. The green is pale compared to the fairly strong "mint green" of the OG carpet.
2. The brown speckles are much darker than OG, almost black. They also have a plastic shiny quality to them.
3. There is a shallow but noticeable checkerboard texture to it.
4. It's not bad looking, just that it doesn't look much at all like the original green Westy carpet.
If you want to see for yourself, it's helpful to know that it's Commercial Carpet. The Shaw website will help you locate a retailer in your area. FYI, I looked through all of Hom's commercial samples and found nothing close/closer. |

This is from Newton Commercial:
I don't think it's anywhere near a color match. I knew it wouldn't be a texture map. My fault, I bought it hoping that they'd make more of an effort to match it.
I need to say that it is well made.
Bleyseng - is this the place you were thinking of? http://have-a-nice-bay.nl/index.php?cPath=784_795_874 I can't see a green carpet there.
Still looking if anyone has a good original.. _________________ |

Busok is fine but I bought my carpet from kieftenklok.nl and its not a dead on match but close (darker) and high quality carpeting. I hate the cheap Pergo flooring everyone puts in like its a upgrade. On a cold morning it sucks plus everything in the bus really slides around when going down the road. _________________ 70 Ghia Black convert-9/69 build date-stock w/133k 1600 SP-barn find now with a rebuilt tranny and engine

I would like to buy from kieftenklok too but they've been our of stock all year. I assumed they'd stopped making them. Can't see anything on http://www.bus-ok.de or http://have-a-nice-bay.nl/ _________________ |
