Not true. That is merely because the current administration has been taking a back seat approach to the subject. What hasn't been seen by the public and NOT publicized much is the government has been sending 'Cease & desist' notices informing growers and sellers as well a state/local agencies that they are in fact in violation of federal law.
You can bet when the current administration is out that the new one won't likely share the same view. When the US government demands that state & local agencies follow US law or else lose $federal dollars$...what do you think they'll do? You bet your behind they'll clamp down and very hard.
And let's not forget that most of those growers will then have to deal with the IRS...for which they pay NO federal tax to given it's against federal law.

The clock is ticking... towards legalization. Almost half of the country (22 states) have a medical marijuana program, 2 states are now fully legalized. Every gallop poll now says the majority of the country favors legalization. Any politician who still wants to be on the wrong side of science and history at this point would be committing career suicide. _________________ 1970 Westfalia Pop-Top |

Define 'Fully legalized'. Being legal on a state level does not mean it's fully legalized. That would require the full support and legalization on the federal level as well. There is plenty of evidence (scientific) that states/supports just the opposite.
What's next the legalization of cocaine, heroin, meth etc...?
I do not support the legalization of marijuana. This country has enough problems as it is. No need to add fuel to a fire. _________________ 1972 Westy Hardtop/Type-4 2056cc

Supposedly it will be ready today but I still need to physically get it and have the rear corner's paint repaired.
I'm going to get my old bumper back and have it straightened and re-painted along with an engine cover I have because the next time (and I'm sure there will be a next time) I might not be able to find these things. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

Something I always liked on my bug was a large tow bar (with ball fitted). If nothing else it sure makes a mess of their radiator, and they will need a tow home, and hopefully learn to pay attention to the road. 3rd brake light is great for waking up the stupids that inhabit the roads these days. As for 'illegal in cars' I thought my bus was classified as a truck under highway regs?? _________________ 1967 Ghia

Apparently the "new" rear bumper is ready however it's not going to be installed until the rear driver's corner gets addressed. That's being scheduled for July 1st. It's been 2 weeks since I've driven my Bus as I'm not taking it for a spin without a bumper.
Overall... a PITA but as noted previously it could have been worse.

Wow this has sucked balls.
So I have the replacement 1971 bumper and two bumper brackets. They are painted and finished.
Someone is lined up to "do the work" tomorrow then the parts will need to be re-installed. Will be almost 7 weeks since the "accident."
Bus has sat in the garage since then because I don't want to drive without a rear bumper.
I have my previous, now damaged, rear bumper in my kitchen. I'll have to find someone to straighten it since they're so hard to find.
Since you know rear ender #4 will be happening. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |

I'm pretty sure there are people that can make that bumper look like new. Not sure if it's a bumper shop or a chrome shop. Once it's straight and painted it should be worth quite a bit especially if it has the over-riders _________________ Lead Mechanic: San Diego Air and Space Museum

There was a guy in the classifieds ( I think in Ca.) who straightens Bay bumpers for about $200. Claims they look like new. |

Alright that shit got fixed. Of course I still can't drive my *&%$# Bus because I need to install the new bumper on the Bus.
Thanks for the suggestions about getting my previous bumper, which is now in my kitchen along with my BA6 which has been sitting there for 15 years, repaired.
Socal isn't convenient for me but I'll find something I hope.
Thar she is:

I guess it'll be nice to get the bus back on the road for some classic summer cruisin and give the 400E a rest. _________________ 1978 Sage Green P22 Westfalia

So I get the bolts, washers, brackets, and bumper and lay it all out and the damn thing doesn't line up.
WTF?!?
I thought I was losing my mind.
I think the guy got me a 72 bumper?
Smaller measurements are for my bumper... larger ones are for the "new" one.

Not unless you weld up the holes and redrill. I suppose it's already powdercoated? _________________ Rust NEVER sleeps and stock never goes out of style.

I don't know it's been 2 months since my Bus has been 100%. Either the bumper that got hit will be bent back into shape or this one made to work.
At this point I'm ready to hit someone. _________________ "I spud therefore I yam." |
