Does anyone know the pin height on stock 40hp pistons? I'm trying to figure out what the distance from main center to the top of the piston.

Half stroke 32mm + Rod length 130mm + Pin height ?

I plan to build a 40hp stroker using a 69mm crank and modified 40hp rods. I'm trying to find 77mm or 83mm pistons with the correct pin size and height to keep the engine close to stock width.

Stroke increase is 5mm==2.5mm per cylinder shim. To me this seems inconsequencial. The tin still fits well, and the exhaust and intake can be bent to fit. Use 1600 pushrods, and you're home.

Thanks Avus. Thats most likely what I will end up doing. I just wanted to make sure there isn't a better of the shelf piston that would work.

I have some NOS 83.5mm pistons, 20mm pin and good 83.5mm (1500) cylinders that I was going to use on a 36hp build...

change of direction means I am using 80mm to stay in 1400cc engine class... so they are for sale for the right money. Pm me if you like...

alternatively I have a note somewhere of some Japanese pistons that are 77mm with 22mm pin and a lower pin height which would get you closer to stock width... I will have a rummage.

Smile
