I realise some would of kept the bullet holes but there are so many of them it would not be practical as the bus is peppered with them and it would be cold and wet in there as i intend to use it

after a discussion with my colleagues i decided the roof was doing nothing apart from blocking the light and cutting me at every opportunity. So off it comes Very Happy I also decided the parcel shelf was doing nothing too so guess what............. my mission to remove the metal without structural integrity ended here as i decided the whole bus has in fact no structural integrity

Amazing project - respect to you for taking it on and sharing your progress. any tips on repairing bullet holes please as I have some to do myself from donor panels from a Swedish wood - they seem to be dangerous places for VWs!

I am looking forward to seeing some more progress Smile

Cheers,

Dave

what i did was firstly folded the bits round that were folded back on themselves, i then placed the doors on the floor and leant them on a dolly where the bullet hole was and tapped gently against the dolly with a round flat panel beating hammer, you will end up with overlap as the metal was stretched during the impact of the bullet. i tapped this flat and let it overlap. From the front the evidence there was a bullet hole is there but no actual hole.i then bare metalled the back of said area and carefully welded the back to seal it not putting alot of heat in so it did not burn through much. When it goes rusty again it will be character with no hole, win win in my book. Shotgun holes and pickaxe holes are on agenda somewhere down the line will let you know about them as i get there
